Canungra and Oliver's birthday.
8.2.21 Tomorrow we set off in our new van. We're planning on staying at Canungra showgrounds for 5 nights. Can't wait to try out the ISLAND bed. No more fighting with the mattress to make the bed 😍
9.2.21 We drove 371kms, with the last part being through beautiful country side. Lots of horse farms.
Cheers to our first trip.
Love the green views.
We managed to set up reasonably well, with no cross words!
Creek was flowing well.
We've tested the microwave oven ✔ hot water service ✔and because there's lots of cross ventilation with the windows and zip downs we haven't had the aircon on yet. So far everything is perfect but it is only day 1.
10.2.21 We had the unexpected pleasure of taking Seth to school and looking after Oliver today while Rach was at work. Our friend, Karen, came for a catchup over coffee and cake.
There was a bit of rain around and Ollie had a huge sleep so our planned walk to the park didn't happen. So we just had a quiet afternoon doing 'jobs' for mummy (Rachel) including making spaghetti bolgnese for dinner.
11.2.21 Woke to the distant sounds of the locals ⬇
Went for a ride in to town. After a change in plans we ended up visiting our friends, Sue and Danny, in Burleigh Heads instead of them coming to us.
Finished the day eating pizza with our family.
12.2.21 With plan A (historic river mill) closed we went to plan B, rainforest walks in Lamington National Park. 1st walk was to a cave and was a level 4 so undulating, steps and narrow paths. We were both huffing and puffing but it was lovely and cool.
I would love waking up to views like this every day.
A brown bird. Looked like a pigeon.Shell embedded in the cave wall.
2nd rainforest walk, 1.2km circuit.
We could hear catbirds talking to each other.
Strangler fig.
3 different sorts of fungi growing next to each other.
Coffee stop at the Binna Burra tea house.
Beautiful view out to sea.
Quick stop in Beechmont.
Hang gliders launch from here.
Mt Warning in the distance.
We had a refreshing dip in the creek with the locals back at the showgrounds.
My parents arrived today for 2 nights. We're all going to Olivers birthday party tomorrow. We had a relaxing afternoon/evening catching up, having dinner together and I found the first 2 satellites 🙂
13.2.21 The 'boys' cooked bacon and eggs on the fire for breakfast.
Off to Rachel's to help with party preparations. Photos on a separate post 🙂
Cheese toasties and marshmallows for dinner.
14.2.21 13mm rain overnight. The neighbors packed up their tent and left at 3am.
We were packed up and on the road for home at 8.45am.
